Nicolas Magrez has over 15 years of experience in commercial law with a focus on Intellectual Property, Data Privacy and IT law. He's bilingual (French, English) and holds a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Brussels (ULB 2008), a LL.M. in Intellectual Property law from the University of Leuven (KUL 2010) and a Master in Management from Solvay Business School (Solvay 2011).

He has developed a particular expertise and reputation in the IP/IT sectors. After his studies, Nicolas started at Katz-Law, a highly regarded niche law firm specialized in Copyright and Trademark law. Strong of this first conclusive professional experience, Nicolas left Belgium and moved to Hong Kong where he worked as General Counsel of Pacsafe (Outdoor Industry) and Dropsafe (Oil and Gas Industry). As General Counsel, Nicolas has gained broad experience in implementing and enforcing International strategies for intellectual property protection (trademark, patent and copyright protection) .

In 2015, back from Hong Kong, Nicolas has founded Magrez Law with a strong focus on IT/IP/Data Privacy law. In 2020, Nicolas became IP/IT partner at van Cutsem, a mid-size full service firm based in Brussels. In 2022, he joined AfterShip as General Counsel. Founded in 2012, AfterShip is a unicorn trusted by over 100,000 eCommerce retailers. Nicolas has an in-depth experience in IP portfolios management and leading global legal departments.
